Respiratory Care is the treatment and care of individuals who have illnesses/disorders associated with the lungs and breathing. Some of these illnesses include: Asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, croup, influenza, emphysema (COPD) and heart failure.

This department provides inpatient and outpatient therapeutic and diagnostic services, including pulmonary function testing, overnight oxygen testing, and sleep studies. The services of Respiratory Care may include, but are not limited to: Ventilatory support, administration of oxygen, respiratory monitoring/testing, administration of medications, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and airway management.

We also offer Pulmonary Rehab at DCMH and this consists of supervised exercise, education and therapy. This program targets those individuals with chronic lung disease, with the resulting benefits of participation being: Increased exercise tolerance and conditioning, decreased symptoms and better management of the disease, decreased hospitalizations, increased knowledge of the individual’s illness through education, and hopefully a return to the activities previously enjoyed.
