Nathan Hinker, CNP

Nathan Hinker is a family practice trained nurse practitioner. He does a little bit of everything which keeps his job fun and interesting. The problems are always different. Originally, he had planned to begin a career in anesthesia, but it lacked patient contact. He learned that he really enjoyed interacting and talking with his patients. Twenty years later and he is still practicing. In his free time, Nathan Hinker enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his family. Activities that he enjoys include: hunting, hiking, and gardening. He generally takes a systematic approach to medical problems. Much of the information comes what patients tell him but he also has to be aware of how they say it, how they act or move, and really put all the puzzle pieces together. The medical field is always changing so staying up to date is important and at the same time a difficult task as there are many field of medicine. In Hinker’s words, it basically boils down to reading, reading, reading, and trying to stay current and attending continuing medical education. He also uses an app on his phone that screens for journal articles in the fields he uses the most often seeking out current relevant research.
